Three Reasons to have Chimney Caps

1.  Protection from the rain.
Of all the elements, water causes the greatest damage to a chimney. Bricks are porous and water soaks in. It damages the mortar lines, and shortens the life of the chimney liner and crown. A cap can really protect a chimney from water damage.

2.  Protection from animals.
If animals are allowed to make their homes in chimneys, they can bring dangers and risk of disease to homeowners. A quality cap can prevent birds, squirrels, racoon, rodents, and other animals from getting into chimneys and the home.

3.  Protection from sparks.
A home should be protected from sparks that may come from chimneys. This reduces the danger of fire resulting from stray sparks from a fireplace or wood stove.
